Product Description

Blended Polyester Resin with Good Leveling for Outdoor Semi-gloss TGIC Powder Coatings
6002 and 6006 are high and low acid value polyester resins respectively, which are used in polyester/TGIC powder coating systems. Using 6002 and 6006 to make powder respectively and then dry mixing to make outdoor semi-gloss powder coating.
Due to its advantages of no pollution, energy saving, and near-zero VOC emissions, powder coatings have achieved rapid development around the world, with an output of 1.6 million tons in 2017. At present, domestic thermosetting powder coatings are mainly divided into indoor powder coatings and outdoor powder coatings, of which indoor powder coatings are mainly epoxy resin powder coatings, while outdoor powder coatings can be cured by TGIC and Primid. When TGIC is used to cure powder coatings since no small molecular by-products are formed during baking and curing, the surface of the coating is not prone to shrinkage cavities, pinholes, and other problems, and the surface clarity and gloss are high.
Although high-gloss powder coatings dominate the market, there is an increasing demand for semi-gloss, low-gloss, and matt products. At present, the preparation of semi-gloss and other low-gloss powder coatings can mainly adopt physical methods and chemical methods. Common methods include adding matting agents, dry mixing matting, and co-extrusion matting. The addition of a matting agent is mainly to add other type resin to polyester resin, which causes two-phase separation and reduces gloss. Since the addition of resin will cause the mechanical properties of the system to decline and the cost to rise significantly, it is less used in outdoor powder coatings. Co-extrusion matting mainly prepares high and low acid value resins and curing agents into matting powder coatings by screw extrusion. During use, there is a phenomenon of unstable gloss, and its market application is also less. Therefore, the current outdoor powder coatings are mainly realized by dry mixing and matting.
